The Long Table

A campaign that sat 600 strangers at one 200-metre table along the river, and made a poster series out of the leftovers.

The brief

Food festivals all look the same: a chef with crossed arms and a logo wall. The organisers wanted something people would talk about on the tram home.

What we made

One idea, stretched as far as it would go: a single table, 200 metres long, open to anyone who booked a seat. Every touchpoint, from the posters to the tickets to the napkins, was designed as a place setting. After the dinner we photographed the table at sunrise and turned the crumbs and wine rings into the next year’s poster series.

Tickets sold out in a day. The table has run every summer since.
